SGSL Summer Sandlot

SGSL is proud to announce the return of our summer sandlot for 2022!

Do you long for the days of heading out to play with friends, picking teams, making rules and playing the game you love? Not ready for softball season to end? Well then, the SGSL Sandlot is for you! (Use this link to sign up!)

The program will be facilitated by current coaches who will act as pitcher and catcher. Teams will be split up accordingly and the players will play the game. The goals of the programs will be:

1. Have Fun

2. Socialize with friends and teammates

3. Work on conflict resolution, teamwork and game strategy.

Registration is free. No obligation to participate: drop-in style attendance.

Complete the quick online registration. Required for participation.

NOTE: Due to continued supply chain issues, it is not possible for us to offer a sandlot T-shirt sale this year.

WHO: Current (2022) SGSL Majors, Minors, Farm, and Rookie players.

           Your favorite coaches from the spring rec season

            Interested parent volunteers

SGSL sandlot is intended for fun and character development, not for coaching. Parents are encouraged to drop and go if they are not staying to actively volunteer.

SGSL sandlot is a "drop-in" event. Come to one, some, or all of them!

However, all players and volunteers are required to register once. The free player registration and coach/volunteer sign-up is available here:

Calling all Softball Fans...SGSL Needs You!
Southington Girls Softball League is made up largely of volunteers, and the operation of the league is comprised of many activities that take place 'behind the scenes'. Did you know that we have:

  • A Field Maintenance Committee to keep our 10 playing fields - dedicated solely to Southington girls in grades K-12 - in a good and safe condition;
  • Various pre-season Organization Committees;
  • A Concession Stand Committee to help in the operation of our main source of income;
  • A Fundraising Committee,
  • An End of Season celebration Committee,
  • Charity tournaments Committees,
  • and much more.

All of this activity is done for the benefit of all our girls by volunteers. SGSL is one of the finest, if not the finest, facility within the state of Connecticut, dedicated to girls' softball. Comments validating this have been made year after year by coaches and officials both within and outside of the Town of Southington. However, none of this happens without your help.

It's true that everyone has a busy schedule these days, but just a few hours of your time can be an invaluable contribution to both the league and to our girls' total experience of the sport. So please, ask any of our Executive Board members how you can get involved and take pride in knowing that your contribution helped to make treasured memories on these fields for your young girl to last a lifetime.

On behalf of the  SGSL Executive Board, thank you,

Mike Konopka
President, Southington Girls Softball League
