In-Person Registration for Southington Girls Softball League
In-person registration for the SGSL rec softball spring 2020 season will be held on January 18th and February 1st at Southington High School from 9am to 1 pm in the cafeteria. We'd love to meet our new players and families, or visit our returning players and their families!
Adults interested in coaching (no experience required...we train our coaches) should plan to visit us during in-person registration and can email their interest to league president Mike Konopka at

Pitching Clinic: The USA Elite pitching program has been producing successful pitchers for the past 27 years. This clinic will teach the players the fundamentals of pitching and catching. It is designed for the novice player wanting to learn, and for players with prior experience. Pitchers will learn the correct fundamentals of windmill pitching. The clinic will focus how to grip, correct wrist snap, the arm circle and lower body mechanics. The emphasis will be on teaching the correct lower body fundamentals to improve balance and explosion in the pitching motion in order to improve accuracy.
Catchers Clinic: The catcher will be working on learning the proper stances for catching, framing and receiving, throwing techniques, blocking, fielding bunts, and pass balls.
Session 2: All Skills Grades 1-6
Registration Fee: $150
Time: 9-10:30 am
This clinic is designed to help prepare players for the spring season. This will be an overall skills clinic in which the fundamentals of throwing technique and footwork, fielding (including infield and outfield defensive positioning), base running, and hitting will be covered. Players will learn the correct stance, sequence of hitting mechanics, and the importance of balance and rhythm during their swing.
Players will learn the correct sequence of hitting mechanics using USA Elite Training's hitting system and the importance of balance and rhythm during their swing. This class will teach the hitter proper weight transfer, correct hand path to the ball, and maximize bat speed. Additionally, players will learn how to hit different pitch locations and change-ups.

Southington Girls Softball Leagueis made up largely of volunteers, and the operation of the league is comprised of many activities that take place 'behind the scenes'. Did you know that we have:
A Field Maintenance Committee to keep our 10 playing fields - dedicated solely to Southington girls in grades K-12 - in a good and safe condition;
Various pre-season Organization Committees;
A Concession Stand Committee to help in the operation of our main source of income;
A Fundraising Committee,
An End of Season celebration Committee,
Charity tournaments Committees,
and much more.
All of this activity is done for the benefit of all our girls by volunteers. SGSL is one of the finest, if not the finest, facility within the state of Connecticut, dedicated to girls' softball. Comments validating this have been made year after year by coaches and officials both within and outside of the Town of Southington. However, none of this happens without your help.
It's true that everyone has a busy schedule these days, but just a few hours of your time can be an invaluable contribution to both the league and to our girls' total experience of the sport. So please, ask any of our Executive Board members how you can get involved and take pride in knowing that your contribution helped to make treasured memories on these fields for your young girl to last a lifetime.
